Tesla Model 3 Puddle lights

In the past, I had several Puddle lights on my previous ride. It is easy to install with simple prying tool but the puddle lights durability is in question. It typically last for a few months before it spoiled and has to be replaced.

Tesla has recently provided the original Puddle lights accessories. The original Tesla Puddle lights use laser engraving coated glass technology and project the "TESLA" logo on the ground below the car door through five ultra-high-definition full-optical lenses. The Puddle light lamp uses ADC12 aluminum alloy as the back cover shell, which has better heat dissipation and corrosion resistance through anodizing treatment. It can directly replace the original car light cables without any use of adapter.

Installation notes

To install Puddle lights, you would need the prying tool. I would recommend you to use the broad version one instead of the small prying tool. You would need a broad area to pry out the standard Puddle lights out from the doors. The Puddle lights are very snuggly fitted and you couldn't use your fingers alone to pry it out. Also, you would need to take caution on where the Puddle light connector is as there may be some risk in spoiling the connector when prying it out.

Front doors:

1) Position your prying tools on the edge of the original Puddle lights on your Tesla Model 3.

2) With a sudden jerk movement, you would be able to pry out the original Puddle lights. Note that for the front doors, the light connector is on the outer side and thus, is recommended that you pry it open from the inner side instead.

Rear doors:

Do you know that your Tesla Model 3 Highland has emergency manual door handle that allows you to open the rear door when there is no electricity in the car?

1) Look carefully at the inner rear door storage area. Look for the flap that covers the yellow pull string which allows the passenger to manually open their rear doors in case of emergency or sudden power outage. If you want to test manually opening the rear door, please remember to lower down the glass window before manually closing back the door as it may crack the glass window when door is closed back.

2) Look and feel carefully on the highlighted area and you would see the back of the puddle lights. Use your fingers to push the Puddle lights.

3) Press the pin on the Puddle light using a tweezer to free it. You can then use the connector to connect to the new Puddle Lights. Note the direction and the placement. The Puddle lights are marked as FR LL, FR RR or RR LL, RR RR which are pretty much self explanatory.

4) Now put the new Tesla logo puddle light by reversing the above steps.
